In Why I Write by Joan Didion she says “I stole the title for this talk, from George Orwell.” The article was actually published in 1976 by Orwell. Joan Didion discusses how and why she writes. She said “In many ways writing is the act of saying I, of imposing oneself upon other people, of saying listen to me, see it my way, change your mind”, which I thought was a good quote. She also talked about how she doesn’t know who I is until she wrote that certain sentence, and how the second week in writing the book she wrote lines that appear halfway through the book long before she knew why the character in the book was doing what she was doing.
There are a couple of reasons for why I write. Most of the time why I write is because I have to for a class, mostly english. I never liked writing much but when I find a topic I like it’s some what tolerable and sometimes I enjoy it. But if I don’t I have trouble being able to sit down and concentrate. Another reason I write is sometimes I will write down my feelings if I get angry or something because of my issues and hit helps so I don’t start yelling or start having a breakdown. Also I obviously text and tweet, and use other social media, sometimes when I text it's like I write a novel.
